Job Description

Responsibilities

We work with a diverse range of trusted Development Partners across the country, ranging from private residential builder/developers through to multi-institutional owners and everything in between. Our development team work closely with our Development Partners from a Tenant perspective to plan, design and construct our new hotels in line with our Developer’s Brief. In addition to our greenfield hotel development projects, our team also engage in office to hotel conversions, refurbishments and on occasion rebrand other hotels within the market to grow our portfolio.

As a Design & Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Veriu Group portfolio. You’ll bring strong experience in hotel or multi residential project management, ideally with a background in architecture or interior architecture and experience in FF&E design and procurement.

You will ensure that every development reflects our Veriu brand standards and delivers operationally functional, guest-focused outcomes. As the anchor tenant on our projects, Veriu’s requirements are central to the success of each development. Our approach is collaborative - we work alongside our Development Partners as an integrated extension of their consultant team, not as an adversary. This partnership-driven mindset is a key reason our partners continue to deliver multiple sites for us. In this role, you will uphold that philosophy, championing quality design, operational excellence, and strong relationships throughout the entire development journey.

You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end management of your allocated developments, which will include:

  • Strong capability to review and interpret architectural, interior, joinery and services drawings and provide clear tenant-side design markups and feedback
  • Pipeline management and communication to stakeholders
  • Assisting with new opportunity proposals, feasibility reviews and negotiations
  • Management of the tenant-side development process from initial design through to practical completion and hotel pre-opening. Review and approval of internal finishes, fittings and equipment in collaboration with the Project Design Team
  • Key contact point for our Development Partner’s development team and the nominated Builder
  • Participation in Development PCG meetings
  • Management of FF&E design, procurement, delivery & installation in line with brand standards and budget requirements
  • Supplier management
  • Updating of Developer Brief documents
  • Internal stakeholder management with the operational team
  • Oversight and management of internal refurbishment projects

About You

We work in a fast-paced environment where no day is the same, so we’re looking for people who are adaptable, enjoy variety and operate with an ownership mindset.

The successful person must have:

  • Approved Australian working rights (Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency or a Visa with approved working rights)
  • Proven experience in construction or project management role.
  • Background in Design and/or Architecture will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with pride taken in quality outcomes.
  • Proven ability to manage timelines and multiple projects concurrently in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to understand and translate operational requirements at the development stage.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly to development sites, both locally and interstate.
